house. There is also an elevator for our guest's convenience. Each room is
uniquely furnished and decorated with natural stone tile, wood, concrete and
carpeted floors, elegant wallpapers and custom faux finishes. Room prices listed
reflect the various features and are per room per night based on double occupancy,
including a country buffet breakfast.
The history of the home itself is not long but the family heritage that lives in it and
with us are prolific. The guest bedrooms adorn names from our family and a few of
their Belles (Southern Belles that is). Each room is decorated and furnished to the
taste and personality of the people they represent. We look forward to sharing our
heritage and these beautiful guest rooms with you and hope to make your stay as
inviting and homey as we feel here. Here is a peak at what we have to share with
you...
The Belt Room is named for the Belt Family which includes a long line of
talented farmers and ranchers. They sowed the land and fed their families by
realizing and using the richness in the soil. They grew tomatoes and
watermelons and raised livestock and never denied food or work to anyone
willing to put in a hard day's work or just needed a helping hand. William
Arthur Belt, the patriarch of the Belt family, passed this rich heritage on to his
two sons, William Arthur II, and James Horace, and it continues on with the
current generation. This room is light with its furnishings but rich with deep
sage green which adorn the walls and a queen canopy bed. The bathroom in
this room is stunning with the marble vessel sink, dark wood vanity console,
romantic wallpaper and features a whirlpool tub.
Belt Room
The Westbrook room is named for the Westbrook family, early settlers of
Milam County. Edna Westbrook Trigg, sister of Josephine Westbrook
Stewart, was Texas' first Home Demonstration Agent appointed by the U.S.
Department of Agriculture in 1911. This room features deep chocolate
brown walls accented with Texas rustic wrought iron light fixtures, a king
canopy bed fit for kings and queens. The bathroom features a huge walk-in
shower equipped with a rain shower head as well as a hand shower, and
muted tone on tone damask wallpaper. This room is handicapped
accessible.
Westbrook Room
The Stewart Suite is named for the family of James Lafayette Stewart. As a
young man, he served with Hood’s Brigade during the Civil War and was
captured at the Battle of Chickamauga and was held in a prisoner of war
camp in New Orleans for 2 years. After the war, he returned to Texas and
married Josephine Westbrook. He purchased a large acreage of land along
the Little River river bottom and farmed the land for many years. The Stewart
Suite is our largest room and features a rich golden wash on the walls, a
stately king bed, a living area with fireplace, chaise, and a sofa that will make
into a queen size bed. The room also features direct access to the covered
veranda and swimming pool. The bath features an antique marble topped
console and large vessel sink, and whirlpool tub.
Stewart Suite

clear blue eyes. This room features a queen iron canopy bed with maple

beautiful things, she is the mother and grandmother of the owners. In honor
of her flash and panache, this room features stunning red and gold
wallpaper, a massive queen Victorian bed, a dressing vanity highlighted with
French style sconces. It also features two French doors that open on the
3rd floor porch with an incredible view to be enjoyed while rocking in the
Southern style rocking chairs. The bathroom’s appointments are of gold
and bronze and it features a whirlpool tub.

The Ala Rae Room is named for Ala Rae Belt Bullion, the eldest daughter of
Alice Rachel and William Arthur Belt. Sophisticated and beautiful, she was

family. This room is dedicated to her richness of taste and features muted
scroll designed wallpaper with elegant oak furniture, a king bed and
dressing table. The bathroom is painted in a muted sage green, adorned
