The Stewart Suite is named for the family of James Lafayette Stewart. As a
young man, he served with Hood’s Brigade during the Civil War and was
captured at the Battle of Chickamauga and was held in a prisoner of war camp
in New Orleans for 2 years. After the war, he returned to Texas and married
Josephine Westbrook. He purchased a large acreage of land along the Little
River river bottom and farmed the land for many years.
The Stewart Suite is our largest room and features a rich golden wash on the
walls, a stately king bed, a living area with fireplace, chaise, and a sofa that will
make into a queen size bed. The room also features direct access to the
covered veranda and swimming pool. The bath features an antique marble
topped console and large vessel sink, and whirlpool tub.
